Messi is Doubtful for Barca’s Sunday’s La Liga Match

Lionel Messi

Today, when injuries are routine news in the soccer world, some players clearly stand apart of recurring injuries. Lionel Messi, the Argentinian and Barcelona star football has ever been known for his fitness and rolling match records! Recently, in a match between Barcelona and Benfica, he somehow got injured in an attempt to score his record leveling 85th goal of the year. He got his knee badly injured, and was taken off the field on a stretcher. Initially, it looked to be a major injury that could lay him out of the field for a longer term, but fortunately, his injury did not come out to be a serious one, and expectedly, he will only miss one match for that injury. Actually, everyone was quite surprised to see Messi got injured; coz last time he missed a match for injury was in September 2010. Anyways, it is a big relief for both player and his club to see his fast recovery.

Messi himself said that he could only miss out a match at Real Betis while earlier; he was taking his career at a greater risk. He said, “I feel much better than yesterday. I don’t know if I will be there on Sunday. It depends on how progresses. I didn’t think anything when it happened. I just believed from the pain that I would be sidelined for a long time.

“At that moment I thought the worst. Later, when the doctor examined me in the changing room and ruled out a serious injury, it was a relief,” he added.

Actually, there are few matches still left in this calendar year, so Messi can be the highest goals scorer in a calendar year by beating forty-year old record of 85 goals being held by Gerd Mueller. Messi has 84 goals this year and few matches are still to be played. So, if, somehow, he recovers and makes himself available for Barca’s Wednesday’s clash with Córdoba CF, it would have been good news for him. Actually, Messi has worked hard to keep himself fit after his few initial injuries. He is the same player who got many injuries when he started his career, and now at the peak of career, he maintains himself excellently. Even on the field, he never being seen throwing himself in an unintended way. Let’s see if he can achieve what any other footballer could not do in last forty years!
