Lionel Messi is back again with his record making machinery and scored two brilliantly executed goals against Granada in the Champions League. His goals are also important coz they brought back Braca from a trailing position at half time, and more especially, they took over Messi tally of goals over 300 now. He added 300th and 301st goals to his all-time goals’ count and shines in the Barca’s win against Juan Antonio Anquela club. First goal of the game was scored by Odion Ighalo against all odds in the 26th minute of the game and they enjoyed the lead for remaining first half of the game. Messi returned the favor just after the halftime when he grabbed on a rebound of Cesc Fabregas’ strike and fired an equalizer. He then scored the winning goal in the last moments of the game with his brilliant free kick and took his league tally to 37 goals. Right from the beginning, Barca was the favorite, but when Granada fired the opener and looking at their recent preferences, it could have been critical for Barca had Messi not leveled the score shortly after the launch.
The win extends Camp Nou club’s lead over second and third place holders, and they are now much ahead of other competitors of the league and it looks like they will take away the trophy this year. Looking at the 2-1 final score in Barac’s favor, it is clearly visible that the match was a close one where Granada players tried their hard to at least draw the game, but Vilanova men made it sure they will not allow them to score another goal in the game. Granada is the only team which has visible changes in its performance since Lucas Alcaraz took over the job of their coach. Recently, they thrashed Real’s hopes to tally Barca in the league by defeating them against all the odds and expectations; hence this match was taken seriously by Blaugrana players, especially after non-availably of their key strikers due to injuries.
At the moment, Barca has won 21 matches out of its 24 played rounds and leading second placeholder Atletico Madrid by 15 points and third placeholder and their arch rival Real Madrid by 19 points. Fourth place holder Malaga is closely following Madrid with just 4 points difference, so final La Liga table this season is supposed to bring many twists and turns. You just wait and watch.
