The sponsorship bond between AC Milan and sports equipment manufacturer adidas took another leap by extending their current tenure to another ten years. They both are associated back since 1998 and new contract gave them another reason to enjoy twenty five years of productive friendship! The new deal took the stance just recently and informed to the world by representatives of both parties: While, Vice President Galliani and managing director Jean-Michel Granier represented Milan, CEO Herbert Hainer embodied the sporting company. Nothing can work in sport industry for so long without proven results, and this partnership has ever been a fruitful for both parties, i.e., Milan secured many titles since they shacked their hands with adidas which include, FIFA Club world cup, two UEFA Champions Leagues and UEFA European Supercups, and one Italian Cup along with others. Hainer explained their long and strong journey as, “During these first 16 years I have always appreciated the AC Milan attitude and commitment to reach great victories on the pitch but also to consolidate AC Milan as a global brand, becoming the most winning club in the world but also one of the most beloved teams worldwide. I am very happy to see the three stripes associated for the next 10 years to an asset with which we celebrated great victories.”
He was not the only one pleased with a continuous tie, club vice president was also jubilant on the occasion and he recalled a long running mutual understanding between two of the top sporting giants in contemporary soccer as, “Today, we lay the foundations for writing new pages of this relationship that gave us great joy. We will reach 25 years together because, starting from 1998, we shared values, strategies, the will to excel, an innovative spirit and many victories. The three stripes brand was with us for all the great dates, on and off the pitch.
“With adidas we wrote the history of sports sponsorship and we created a successful working model: our red and black stripes and the adidas stripes are united not only on the jersey. We started from a classical sponsorship to develop more synergies and to create a stronger partnership: Milan and adidas are perfect partners ready for the challenges of the future.”
So, Spanish clubs proved their sovereignty on long running affiliations front once again where they have always been copied by others, especially by league clubs who are always hungry for proving their dominion without specifics!
