It had been less than twenty four hours FIFA started selling its much optimistic Brazil World cup’s tickets online, and surprisingly; more than one million tickets were requested in just seven hours of initial phase. This is an incredible turnaround, much above everyone’s expectations; in fact, site was overloaded several times in initial hour. However, this is not the final sale coz governing body has already said it will hold a random draw in October to select who will finally be the lucky one to get a ticket. Actually, there is a big imparity between demand and available seats in upcoming mega event; hence it was not possible every applicant gets a ticket so a random selection is what they decided to choose final live spectators. Another interesting fact is that demand is equally roaring in all four categories including knockout stage, semis, and final. As far cheaper category is concerned, it saw massive requests from Brazilians alone though they were reserved for certain sections of the society from any country. Apart from that, demand was outstanding from host, US, Chile, and England and as the time passes by other nationalists are also expected to check their luck against available space.
Ticket prices for final match are in the range of $440-$990 and Brazilians can have them for just $165 in cheaper category while specially categorized persons can avail them for as low as $82. Similarly, host nationalists and specially characterized fans also have a reserved quota for other matches including opener at Sao Paulo. Besides, around half a million tickets are further reserved only for Brazilians. FIFA said describing astonishing demand, “The respective ticket product is already heavily oversubscribed and therefore, at that point in time, the success of the application appears very unlikely. There are vastly more ticket applicants seeking tickets than there are tickets presently available for the general public.”
To avoid black marketing, there is a ceiling of maximum four tickets per applicant for seven maximum matches, though there is a back door to request more seats. FIFA also described this thriving demand at par with what they have seen in 2006 WC where there were seven requests for each seat at every WC match. Looking at the opening trend, it is very much likely that total number of requests will be much higher than seven. Second phase, after selecting winners in October, will begin in November 6th but then only leftover tickets will be sold on first come first served basis. So, if you also want to line up for a ticket, book your request now!
