Soccer stars think they are out of this world, and that is why they should always be treated with greater care and respect, and when this doesn’t happen to them; they start raising questions about their sovereignty. Gonzalo Higuaín, a well-known Argentinian forward who plays for Italian club Napoli, got some deep scratches on his face recently when he was trying to get off from a yacht at Campania coast. His injury was enough for an immediate treatment; perhaps he badly needed some stiches on his face, so he rushed to a nearby Capilupi hospital where he got the required treatment, and here started the problem. Reportedly, his stiches were so badly executed that his face was looking really awkward, in fact, it looked like an experimental job by a novice medicare personal and when his photo was viewed by club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis, he got angry and called his solicitor to file a €100m medical claim on the hospital. This is actually a unique case in soccer fraternity in itself where a manager expects an extraordinary treatment to his players irrespective of what has already been given to them, coz, according to some close sources; Higuain’s stitches were not as obdurate as being described by the Italian film producer.
While Laurentiis said in a statement, “As soon as I saw the photos, I told my solicitors that we’re asking €100 million in damages. A yacht with a billionaire could arrive in Capri and what impression do we give? You don’t get this even in Africa. I’m sick of us not having good quality medics. An actor or a footballer, or any person, goes to hospital, and they don’t even know how to apply stitches in a humane way.”
Sidelining Filmauro owner’s claim, the mayor of Capri: Ciro Lembo, hit back on him and said Higuain got best treatment according to his condition and circumstances around him, and whatever Napoli boss is saying is just to find out everything out of nothing. He added, “The player himself and his friends thanked everybody for their work. I don’t know what De Laurentiis is talking about.
“We are interested in the health of everybody, not just VIPs. Without even seeing the work done, De Laurentiis has drawn a rash conclusion within 24 hours of the accident happening. He has spoken like somebody who is incompetent, whereas he should have thanked us for the swiftness of the intervention. With the damages he wants us to pay him, we could rebuild the Capilupi and make it more comfortable for all the patients, not only those from Capri or VIPs, but for everybody from all walks of life.”
