Brazilian goalkeeper Norberto Neto has been on the radar of many sides ever since he shown his power pack performance in the Italian league. Initially, he was being linked with a move to Juventus but the deal is taking too much time to complete hence fans expect he is looking for another home. Reason being told for refusal to join the Turin side is should he join them he would have to play under Gianluigi Buffon which is not viable for him as he himself can take the full responsibility to defend the goal post. Apart from Zebre, Liverpool is another one who is interested in the Fiorentina goalie however they have kept their cards intact and did not reveal what the size of their pay check is. Nonetheless, if Neto joins Juventus, he would like to play as the number one goalkeeper but 37-year-old Buffon is as well not looking to leave the game for at least two more seasons, so he left no option but to look elsewhere where he could be entrusted for more expanded role. Neto’s agent, Stefano Castagna, talked about his future and where he would go next summer during an interview and said, “The only thing that is official is that Neto will not be staying in Florence. Since Feb. 1, when it became possible to talk to other clubs, we’ve been evaluating offers that are interesting for the lad, in England, Germany and Spain in addition to Italy.
“One of those in England is Liverpool, and then there is a top Spanish club interested in him. Right now, the lad has to make a well pondered decision for his career. He’s young and he’s grown a great deal, but even when he was 18 he was one of the best in Brazil.”
There is another possibility where Bianconeri first sign him and then send on loan so he would not have to assist anybody but that too is denied by the Castagna and he added, “We would say no, clearly. He’s playing regularly now and has plenty of objectives with Fiorentina, with the cups and the league. Then we’ll see what decision we will take.
“If you decide to join a top club then it’s obvious you’re competing with other good goalkeepers, but if you join one of the top 10 clubs in Europe, then it’s an opportunity you’ve obviously got to fight for.”
Since talks are on for a possible deal, it would be interested to see where he opts to move to, as far Reds are concerned, he would have to prove his worth over there sooner than anywhere else otherwise he could face the treatment like Suarez did in the past.
