Newcastle United’s defender Fabricio Coloccini has expressed his desire to return to his homeland as soon as possible. It is like hit and go for the defender who has always been among main line of players, especially at the time when Newcastle need him the most. He has told his manager Alan Pardew that he wants either to move to North America or his native Argentina citing his personal reasons. Though, defender has not expressed any clear cut motive about his sudden desire to leave St James’ Park, yet a crisis in his personal life is believed to be the reason for his return. On the other side, Geordies are hopeful that they will come out with an agreement with him coz he has not made any formal written request to leave the club, or if not possible, they will try to keep him until the end of this season.
The backdrop of current incident is being linked to his recent performances where he could not prove his brilliance on the field. However, despite his £60,000 a week tag, player could not give what his club would have wanted to him. Nonetheless, manager also hinted that his decision is more because of his personal events rather soccer related; hence there is a probability that player would not be willing to stay at St James’ Park – at least for now. The defender has signed a four year extension last march and his sudden desire to leave is definitely a setback for Newcastle. Many peoples still saying that he could have been looking for a better opportunity coz everyone knows he was in the list of Arsenal and Liverpool one year ago, but since he has signed a contract extension with Newcastle; it looks more evident that he needs break for his personal matters.
During his tenure at Newcastle, he became an integral part of its A-team; perhaps it was him who helped his club to regain its third spot despite some miserable performances in the last few seasons. His performances brought him nearer to manager and became the main advisor for the manager in drafting team. In the light of his possible arrival to homeland, his old club has started believing that he would again be available for them. San Lorenzo issued a statement that reads as, “Coloccini’s arrival is very difficult. We can’t go out and buy him. We have always said that we depended on the desire of the player to rescind. We can offer him a very good contract but San Lorenzo have nothing left to do with regards to the negotiating.”
