Fans violence has ever been a cause of disgrace for various nations; in fact, there have been many incidents in the past when teams were debarred off international soccer following a nasty violence causing countless unfortunate causality. This time, Uruguayan fans seem to be just doing that when violence took place inside the ground between the fans of two most popular teams that injured many policemen as well. Indeed, behaviors of the fans had then become so aggressive that entire board of Uruguay’s Football Association including President reigned over the incident allowing political sources to take over the control of the board. Rumors were since in the air that Uruguay national team could also be debarred off the world cup after a similar action being taken up by the Confederation of South American football: Conmebol. But surprisingly, FIFA president has refused to do anything like that and openly said Uruguay will continue playing in the Brazilian event irrespective of the action taken by the federation, which means, governing body seems to be taking the matter lightly or doing some homework before acting harshly against one of key world cup participants.
Anyways, those who have seen the violent behavior of fans after the match between Penarol and Nacional are not convinced with FIFA or football association decision to let everything as it is which could be dangerous too in WC games coz these fans would also follow their national team in South American State. Justifying decision to resign, association board told via Twitter that “The well-publicised acts that have occurred in recent times show the need for step aside and allow other political views to govern our football.
“The Executive Board has worked with the sole objective to benefit our football and, today, there is a clear perception that it’s an obstacle to continue with this line of work.” However, they sidelined the probability of Uruguayan expulsion from the upcoming world cup and said, “I don’t think Uruguay’s place at the World Cup is at risk.”
Copying board’s sentiments, Blatter said in Costa Rica during under-17 women’s World Cup, “Uruguay will be playing the World Cup and will be in its group,” and further added to their website that “(Conmebol) has decided to provisionally suspend the AUF from its rights as a member association, a decision not detrimental in the sporting arena.”
