The job of top mentors of every English club has always been on stake and that is why we often see how manager/head coaches are fired overnight when they fail to perform as expected in English or European leagues. Though, remedial action is fast and stiff in England but it is generally linked with performance in EPL and rarely on the basis of UEFA tourney. For this reason, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini looks cool and clam despite struggling to make it to the next stage in championship league trophy. Their next away game with Roma is going to be a do or die affair for their survival on European campaign and some media channels recently start flashing that Chilean could be axed should City fail to enter into last sixteen. Nullifying these reports and talking about the chances for their last sixteenth birth, Pellegrini gave example of last season when he took them through second stage and asks fans not worry about their show in the final game as they would surely triumph with required numbers to enter where Arsenal and Chelsea are still struggling to have a place.
Denying if his job is under threat should they fail against Italian club, he said, “I don’t think so. It is a very important game and all of us want to qualify but I don’t think that what happens will have some link about my future in the club. I have never received any kind of pressure from the club. I hope we are going to qualify but I have nothing to be about my future here.”
Stevan Jovetic, who is now back along with Vincent Kompany and David Silva to help his side do better on their last CL game, talked about their strategy in the next game, he said, “I recall scoring a few goals against Roma, and in particular I remember a 2-1 win with Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico when I scored and set up the other. Certainly I’m going to try the same again tomorrow. I want to score tomorrow — that’s my duty.
“He’s (Adem Ljajic) a big friend of mine and I know how good he is. To be honest, I expected him to have made the breakthrough a lot sooner than he has done, but things are going very well for him this season. I know his potential and in my opinion he’s one of the best strikers in Italy.”
