Pellegrini shows his positivity for the next season

July 10, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Manuel Pellegrini

New Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini came in front of the media for the first time since he replaced Roberto Mancini at The Blues and straight away he let everyone aware about his aggressive playing strategy he has planned to follow in the coming season. According to him, he is now concentrating in strengthening the forward line of 2011 Premier League winners and is confidence that they can repeat their successful run at EPL. He knows that City is the place where only performance does matter hence it would be a necessity for him to perform well and deliver what his former colleague could not do. He met with his army for the first time in the pre-season training session yesterday and discussed some insides about the new lineup. On the other side, former manager Roberto Mancini has recently warned him to face some of biggest challenges in his career to convert City into a European champion. Accordingly, Pellegrini is looking for more strikers to sharpen his forward line though he has already spent more than £45million on hiring Fernandinho and Jesus Navas and hinted for more deals to happen this summer.

He said in his first confrontation with the media after joining City that “I spoke with Carlos a couple of weeks ago and I feel he didn’t want to stay here anymore. He was very clear to tell me. It was the best choice for him and the club. We have two strikers at the moment and we need another one.”

He has a good record in the Champions league playing for Villarreal and Malaga which could be the reason for City’s interest in him. He loves his aggressive style of playing which is also interesting for each of their fans, he further added, “One of the important reasons I’m here is the way my teams have always played. We are going to play an attractive game, always in the opposite side, always an attacking team. Five or six teams are always trying to win the Premier League and I’ll try to do that with Manchester City. I think that the Premier League is so important, as is the Champions League. I know the last two years weren’t good for Manchester City in Europe, but I’ll try to change that.”

He again told about his goals at the City and how important it is to beat United at first place. He added, “Manchester City is considered one of the best clubs in the world. I have come to win as many medals and trophies as possible. That is my main aim. I want to play well and if I give good performances then I think the fans will like me. I know the most important thing for City fans is to beat United. I’m sure we will do it and this year, the same as other years, we will be on top of United. I also played United twice with Villarreal in the Champions League, in 2006 and 2009, and both times we qualified for the last 16 and they didn’t.”
