With the change in managerial post Manchester United looks rejuvenated and everyone is now optimistic that their all-time favorite side would recover from dreadful 2013-14 EPL season. Dutch manager Louis van Gaal who took over from David Moyes is not only confident but also assured they would bring back the league title at Old Trafford this season. Former legendry United goalie Peter Schmeichel also thinks United, under the experienced guidelines of Dutch international, would perform brilliantly in the upcoming English season. Had anyone else said it, everyone took it just another confident statement by a United fan, but Schmeichel is not an ordinary name; he has been the most successful man in front of the goal post for United with participation in five league titles, three FA cups, and one Championship silverware along with being the world’s best goalie for two straight years back in 1992 and 93. The retired goalkeeper talked about United under a changed leadership in his recent interview where he said, “I still consider Manchester United to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. You could argue we are not because we are not in the Champions League. But I don’t think one year makes a difference. I think you can have one bad year if you bounce back from it, and I think we can.”
Manchester United, the once ruling English club, lost its rhythm last year and ended their league campaign residing on the seventh place – their lowest since 1990 – not only that, they would also miss Championship league this year for their absence from top four. Everyone wants to see United comeback this year and that is why bosses called the highly rated Dutch manager to take over the pressure job. Detailing the last United season, Danish goalie added, “It was an awful season last season. Finishing seventh only has one positive thing — that we are not playing in the Europa League and we can concentrate on the Premier League this season. For me, it was a one-off when everything went wrong for everybody. It was a new situation everyone found themselves in. Now the players are used to someone else being in charge.
“I think that is going to help Van Gaal, that he is not the one who came after Sir Alex. And from having played in the Premier League myself it looks like he is a good guy for the job.”
