Europe has always been the biggest soccer playing region, but this continent is fast losing its sovereignty as the dominating soccer hub since many nontraditional States are fast getting into the scene, and more importantly, many biggies are getting lured to these future destinations. Like, when Qatar was first won the world cup hosting bid no one took them seriously even everyone was skeptical about their entitlement to host the biggest soccer event, but when they successfully shown it to the world that they can provide a world class infrastructure – if not in summer, in winters! Now, Asian region is also getting into the limelight and many English and European clubs are turning to it to raise their fans base in this area. After Manchester United’s association with an Indian tyre manufacturing brand off late, now its turn to German powerhouse PSG to show a similar dominance hence they just singed a sponsorship deal with a Chinese networking equipment manufacturer Huawei. Huawei is indeed the largest producer of networking devices including mobile phones and its market covers entire world as some of their products are known as industry standards.
PSG, who was thrown out off Championship league by English side Chelsea on Tuesday, is trying to recoup their lost grip over media headlines hence they announced about their Chinese partner after being ousted from European tourney. Though, details of the deal are not known, but some of its highlights could be that German side will play at least one game off season in China to build their fans base in world’s largest republic. Other highlights of the contract could be PSG flagship products that would be sold by Chinese manufacture during the contract tenure. PSG’s deputy managing director, Frederic Longuepee, accepted the fact that they are missing their grip in China hence this deal could be a breakthrough platform for them. He also disclosed that the talks were on since last couple of years but could only see the light of the day now. What he said about this deal is, “We’ve been talking to Huawei for the last couple of years. We are suffering from a lack of exposure in China compared to, say, the English Premier League . We don’t have that kind of penetration or visibility. Having a partnership with Huawei will help us gain awareness. It’s a fantastic opportunity.
“From Huawei’s side, Paris is one of the most iconic cities in the world. You have two clubs in Rome and six in London. You only have one in Paris. We are currently finalising a deal to play in Indonesia on July 26, then Beijing in the Super Cup if we win the French championship, and possibly one more game in China too. We were in the USA in 2012, Africa and Europe in 2013 and now we will be going to Asia for the first time.”
