It is now like a dream run for Liverpool as they are finally on the top of leaderboard again after crushing Tottenham by 4-0 at the Anfield. It was perhaps their eight successive victory to warn other contenders that they are back in their nineties form. Notably, it would be their first title after 1990 if they could end their title drought. Brendan Rodgers, the full-on energized manager, is now in positive mood with his outlook and statements as he now wants his team to win every match they play nowonwards. Significantly, they overcome both Chelsea and Manchester City who have until been debated as the possible crown holder, but Anfield side put a dot on their ambitions by topping the table with two clear points to Blues and four clear points to City, though City has played two less games. The surprising lead came after magnificent display throughout the ninety minutes yesterday when they showed it to the world why they were on the top right from the beginning in this season. The long running title draught had raised many eyebrows in the initial few weeks when they were on the top coz they were lacking good players who could be having the experience to take them to the final two.
There were many players who challenged Liverpool to stay on the top by the end of March if they are really that good when they started their campaign residing on the top and Rodgers finally answered those in his style. Former Swansea manager said after this feat, “I just feel a huge privilege to be here and be given the freedom to work. We’re trying to make something that’s sustainable here, not just for this season. We’re trying to grow and develop this club.
“It’s fantastic the supporters now have hope because there are only six games to go. I enjoy it — it’s why I’ve worked hard all of my life since I was a young boy, travelling throughout Europe to find out about some of the top leagues and teams. I don’t think anybody expected us to be where we are. The last few seasons we have been eighth and we finished seventh last year. We go into every game to win and I expect it. What’s been great to see is that idea and methodology of our work bearing fruit in the game.
“There are still some great teams up there and some world-class managers. We understand it’s going to be very difficult, but we just control what we can do — and if we can do that, we’ll just see where it takes us.”
