Whenever we talk about La Liga, only two sides came to our mind, i.e., of course, Real Madrid and Barcelona and fans all over the world expect them only to fight until the end in every Spanish season and when they fail to carry their arch rivalry, not only fans but as well sponsors get disappointed and we have aggressive hooting in every game. This is possibly be the year when Real is far behind of their arch rivals in Primera División which is not in liking of many. If we look at team composition, Real is having most expensive players in the side yet they are 12 points trailing on board to leader Barca and if we specifically look at who has failed to deliver off late, 24-year-old Colombian footballer James Rodriguez is one of the culprits who could not justify millions dollar investment Los Blancos made over them. Giving a respite to all the loyal Real fans, Santiago Bernabéu side defeated Roma in return leg of Champions League Round of 16 game and we saw a brilliant Real crushed the visitors by 2-0 margin. Moreover, they as well won by 4-0 in aggregate making them a strong contender at least on European front and major contribution came from Rodriguez who, to some extent, justified his big price tag.
He is the same player who encountered major hooting for his out-of-form display in the season and he too accepted fans disappointment but after his key contribution in Tuesday game, 24-year-old said, “There are days when things do not go for you, but we know that anything can happen in football. I believe all the fans want to see nice football and when things do not go for you, they have the right to whistle. We are at a club which makes demands of you every day, and we players are here for this. (Our Manger) looks after us all. I try to improve every day, so that things go well. You must keep training strongly every day. Every time you go out to play you must give everything, even though some days things do not go for you.”
As far Roma performance is concerned, they missed several opportunities and paid the price while Ronaldo, like always, also got the net and answered his critics who have long been calling him a self-centered player. Rodríguez added, “The result was fair. Italian teams are strong at the back; that is why it was difficult for us at times.”
