Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho seems to have convinced his captain Wayne Rooney to stay with them that is why Portuguese has loudly said no one is leaving ManU this winter, perhaps, he even says there will be no coming in or going out of Old Trafford.
Over the last few weeks, fans were skeptical over the stay of Rooney with them since different stories were hinting different things: while few were linking him with the Chinese club, there were also few media houses who were denying any such move right from the beginning. Now, when Mourinho has made it clear that Rooney will be playing with them for rest of the season, fans can relax a bit as they will continue enjoying the services of club’s all-time top scorer earlier for some more time. This is also noteworthy that no such announcement has come from player den but since he as well did not deny what his boss said, it is to be believed a patch-up has been taken place between the two behind the curtains.
Replying over the media questions about Rooney stay for the rest of the season, former Everton boss said, “Yeah. We don’t have players in, we don’t have players out. We lost two players from the squad. You can say Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin did not play a lot, but the reality is they played some matches and when they played, other people didn’t. And when they played, others were rested. When Schneiderlin played against Feyenoord, played against Northampton, played against Fenerbahce, in these days it meant that Paul Pogba or Carrick or Herrera didn’t play.
“So you lose players, sometimes it does not look important because they were not first-choice players, but in the end they’re important. And if somebody is going to have a very difficult season, I hope that’s us and we’re in the cup competitions. We have Manchester City match postponed, we have Blackburn match and if we win we will have another match to be postponed. We are in the Europa competition with more matches, so our situation is really difficult. We lost two players, we cannot lose more.”
Though Mourinho has refused to impart in the current transfer window which is ending on Tuesday evening, which is completely opposite of his summer transfer window plans which was his first at Old Trafford and then he hired players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, hence his current strategy looks little bit unobvious, maybe he is trying to first settle down his earlier signees before bringing in more players.
