Everyone knows that Wayne Rooney, the eye candy and dissenting player for United off late, has been on the radar of many league clubs including Chelsea, but few will believe that he is an equally pricey asset for England national team as well though Roy Hodgson understands his importance for United and that is why he has ensured League Champions he will not let his fitness on stake in a national friendlier. Actually, England has to clash with their oldest enemy here in Wembley to mark English FA’s 150th year. Apart from its historical importance, this match is also a checking point for English manager coz he wants to make sure his players are fit and in their best form ahead of their remaining world cup qualifiers matches. Furthermore, United also doesn’t want to risk its key player on rather an unimportant match hence they have also requested national team’s manager to use him only when needed. At the moment, Rooney is going through his shoulder and hamstring injuries; however, he has ensured he can play in upcoming United’s clash with Wigan. Nevertheless, Hodgson wants to use forward for the next week match against Scotland and therefore he is willing to rest him from friendlier early next week.
On the other side, Rooney has been subjected to several rumors which link him with several clubs and Chelsea is in front among all his aspirants, in fact, United has already rejected their any attempt for acclaimed forward. To show his loyalty towards United, he explicitly shows his excitement over upcoming match against Scottish, he said, “Can’t wait to join up with the England squad and hopefully play in a competitive match – they always are against Scotland. Big thanks to Roy Hodgson for selecting me and showing his faith and support – appreciate it.”
Similarly, Hodgson also expressed his understandings for Moyes and said in an interview “We’ve been friends for a long time. David understands my situation fully and put simply we have four very important games coming up. I haven’t seen the players since we left Brazil three months ago and it’s important for me to have them around. And even if they can’t play full parts in the game – or any part at all – I want them there for these two or three days because we are a squad, we are a team, we are a group.
“Just because someone at this time is not fully fit to play, it doesn’t mean they are not going to be an important cog in the wheel come September. David and Wayne understand the situation. We’ll make a decision. When Wayne comes we’ll assess his physical fitness and I know David won’t mind him taking part in the game but we don’t want to put Wayne on the field of play if he is not ready to play. The last thing I would want to do is send him back to his club injured and that goes for the rest of the players too.”
