It has been around one week Barclays Premier League’s season 2013-14 kicked off, but tomorrow will be the first day when two contenders for the title will meet each other in front of thousands of cheering fans. While Chelsea is being led by its new manager Jose Mourinho, United is also going to be mentored by a new face: David Moyes and world are eager to see how two contemporary soccer minds lead their teams to prove their league supremacy. On the other hand, Blue’s long time aspirant Rooney continues to be the headlines stealer for Chelsea as Mourinho is likely to place his third bid for the striker while he has already been told on last occasions that he is not for sale. Another controversy seems to be unearthing around Rooney, and that is; Mourinho is being blamed by both United and home fans for his failure to sign United’s dissenting player, coz former Everton manager considers him as a second option after another United forward Robin van Persie who has also been on his radar for quite some time. But negating these allegations, Portuguese has now come forward in his support and for his club coz he always presents himself as a true caretaker of club’s long running legacy. He says about Rooney saga, “Why? They are against me? But I didn’t say you will be a second choice for me. And they are against me?
“We are trying to get a player that the manager told ‘you will be a second option’. We are not going for van Persie. They don’t have to be against me. If I say Ramires is a second option for me and he plays when Lampard is tired or injured, if somebody comes here to get Ramires, nobody is upset,” and when asked who is responsible for Rooney’s failed deals, he instantly replied, “Moyes, of course.”
Actually, last transfer window has been a kind of flip flop for The Special One coz he lost some of his finest players along with failing to sign some of his aspirants, and coming showdown with United is going to be a tough task where he needs to prove his worth for the second time at Stamford Bridge. While talking about his available players, he added, “I told the players that I want a squad of 22. They are professionals. They want to stay. they know that, if somebody’s coming, it will be hard because, normally, somebody has to leave.”
