Soccer is a game where top performers are always on the radar of more than one clubs and Lille coach Rudi Garcia is one such soccer personality who has a proven track record on the field. He has been one of the most successful coaches for his French football club and took them to league and cup double. He also got France’s coach of the year award in 2011; hence was a long time wish for Serie A club. The present deal is apparently for two year term but with a clause to extend it further if Roma want to and the agreed price for current deals is around 1.5 million euros per season which is much more than he has been getting at Lille. The deal was finalized last week, when Garcia held talks with Roma’s US based bosses back in the New York and became the third official coach for the club in three years. Actually, Roma has changed three coaches in three years and everytime they hire a new coach they expect him to perform right away which sometime is not possible looking at their team and unrest among players. Garcia got the job coz of the recommendations of its sporting director Walter Sabbatini who has long been following him at Lille otherwise France coach Laurent Blanc was the first choice for Giallorossi.
Other two contenders for the post were Massimo Allegri and Walter Mazzarri and after Allegri decided to remain at Milan and Mazzarri joined Inter, Garcia chances to fill the vacant post amplified. Roma announced about its new coach through its site statement which reads as, “A.S. Roma announces that it has reached an agreement with Rudi Garcia, who will become the head coach of the first team,” said a statement on the club’s official website. The two year contract will be formalized and deposited in the upcoming days.”
Roma’s president James Pallotta further added that “We are very excited and confident that Rudi Garcia is the right coach for AS Roma. He is a proven winner with a great football mind who we believe fits in perfectly with our vision for the future. We welcome Rudi Garcia to AS Roma.”
So, Roma has now empaneled a brilliant mind into its squad and would surely like to capitalize each bit of his experience. Who knows, Roma could improve itself significantly under new coach and perform brilliantly in the next Serie A season.
