Whenever a player retires after playing for a long period of time, it is often seen that he somewhere misses the game he has been associated with for so long, but, sometimes many players have accepted to enjoy their new job after hanging their shoes up and Manchester United’s one of the most decorated players Ryan Giggs is one such player who retired off the game last May after playing some 963 games for the Red Devils including as many as ten League titles along with two Championship League crowns plus many more. Coming Saturday he is going to touch 41 years of life and still enjoying being associated with his favorite side though in a new job. Notably, he rejoined the Old Trafford side as an assistant manager after announcing his retirement and enjoyed being on the backyard in four league games in the last season. Unlike many others of his class, he clearly said to have adored life even after saying goodbye to active football and does not regret his decision even now. Talking about his retirement and new job at the helm, 40-year-old Welsh international said, “I have never been one to look back. I think, having done the job at the end of last season, that finally made up my mind to retire because I enjoyed it and I knew I was ready for the next step.
“I didn’t miss playing that much, so it helped, in that respect, to clearly make up my mind that I was ready to finish. The way last season went had nothing to do with it really. I’d had bad seasons and disappointing seasons before — last year was bad, yes, but it had no influence on my decision whatsoever.
“It would have been nice to go out on a high, but that had no bearing on it really. I just hadn’t missed playing as much as I thought I would and I was ready for the next step.”
Adding about what Gaal’s army is missing to rule the English soccer again, he, though accepted that United is missing something definitely, seemed to be confident of coming back both in English as well European tourneys very soon and said, “We are slowly getting there and Arsenal was a big game to win. It was the first away win, against one of the bigger teams, and it was a challenge we met.”
