World cup is just seven month away and every qualified team is tiding its shoes to present itself as the toughest opponent in front of the world. This biggest soccer event has ever been one of the most popular sporting events around the world, and this year too, its curiosity is touching the sky, thanks to its host Brazil where soccer is a region in itself. Off late, Brazil could never be a team as they are famous for and to make a significant change in their world up campaign, football association recalled their favorite Luiz Felipe Scolari to manager the affairs. This is the same 65-year-old soccer brain who made them won 2002 world cup event and expecting a similar return, Scolari has done some impressive changes to the squad; we have seen the results in just concluded Confederation Cup which Brazil won impressively. Actually, every time a host is the biggest contender for any world cup and Brazil is just following the tradition to claim itself as the biggest possibility to keep the silverware, and if we look at the team composition, this South American team is filled with several world class players who regularly show their strength playing for various clubs around the world.
Brazil defeated or we should call crushed Honduras by 5-0 just recently and manger did not lose another opportunity to reclaim his glory and present his rejuvenated team as the biggest challenger for the first world cup in Brazil after many decades. He talked about the pressure media is continuously building on since he took the top job in Brazil last year, he said, “There is no pressure on Brazil. Brazil are not under pressure to be the world champions. Brazil will be the champions. If I did not think we could win the World Cup, I wouldn’t lead the team. I’d be sitting at home. If I came here, it’s because I’m 100 percent convinced that I will succeed.”
He also talked about their crushing victory over La Bicolor and added, “I do not think 5-0 represents the reality of the game. In a normal game between the two teams and the way we play, it could have been 2-0 or 3-0, but we exploited our chances. The result was good. Honduras committed 17 fouls, and eight of them were on Neymar. In every game, he is the player who suffers the most fouls.”
So, the world would wait to see if Big Phil can prove his worth for the Brazilians again as he did in 2002!
