Living the tradition of firing any non performing player or manager, Brazil finally sacked its manager Dunga after his failure to advance Selecao from the group stage of Copa America Centenario. Knowingly, Peru defeated Brazil by 1-0 on Sunday thanks to the controversial goal that reportedly came off the hands of striker Raul Ruidiaz. Even though defeat margin was just one goal and overall gameplay of the Brazilian team was as well satisfactory but the tourney result let down the hopes for Brazilian football manager to retain his job after his side thrown out of the event. Brazilian Football Confederation informed about the decision taken in the meeting last night and he is asked to give his position after he returns from the United States this Tuesday. Next bigger question is who will replace Dunga on the top post, and CBF has the answer for that too. They have hinted that 55-year-old Brazilian manager Adenor Leonardo Bacchi would take the responsibility of the national team and he will be leading the national side during Olympic team in August, when South American giant will tempt to win their first gold medal.
Among the key positions holders in the Brazilian national team, Dunga is not the only one to leave the job as technical director Gilmar Rinaldi has also been asked to go after he and former manager met with the CBF president Marco Polo Del Nero on Tuesday. Revealing about the high profile developments on the supreme posts, CBF statement said in a statement, “CBF announced on Tuesday that decided dissolving the technical staff of the Brazilian national team. The teams coordinator, Gilmar Rinaldi, coach Dunga and his entire staff leave their positions. The decision was taken in agreement during a meeting this afternoon and from now the CBF starts the process of choosing the new technical staff of the Brazilian national team.
“CBF is thankful for the dedication, seriousness and commitment of the staff during the performance of their work.”
While Rinaldi also explained his decision to part ways with the side and said in a news conference, “The Selecao is the highest point of Brazilian football on the world stage. For some reason, it was on a different path. That ends here, right now. The results did not come, and I understand the president’s position of replacing the entire coaching staff.”
