It is not uncommon to see a player starts praising his current side ignoring everything good about his former one if he had been forced to make that switch. Former Manchester City midfielder Stevan Jovetic is one such player who now plays for Italian club Inter Milan after having passed through two disappointing seasons in England that enforced him to switch to central Europe. Now, he has been a San Siro player since last two seasons and during these two spells he has grossly been successful and looking at this success rate, he decided to talk about his former English side and why he had to make the extreme step. Expectedly, he first talk about his new league and confesses competition level in Italian league is way harder than English premier league. This could be his loyalty that is speaking against his former side otherwise there is no point in believing that any other European league is better than EPL. Although, he made an emphatic start of the new spell taking Milan to the top of Serie A table, yet he still remembers his former side and talks about it in a recent interview where he said, “Fiorentina in 2008? I knew I was going to a great team and I made a good decision. I arrived in a beautiful city, with fans who welcomed me straight away. It wasn’t easy to move from the Serbian league to the Italian one, the standard is higher.
“I struggled the first year despite playing 25 games, it got better in the second with five goals in the Champions League.
Adding about the play culture in City dressing room, 26-year-old Jovetic gave a surprising reaction when said, “City? I like the Premier League, it’s easier to play there than in Italy, where there is little space. I had a normal relationship with Pellegrini, we never argued. It was just that I deserved to play more, I thought that then and I think that today too.
“When I was fit they didn’t play me, when I scored I went off after a maximum of 60 minutes and it’s difficult to do more like this.”
Ranking his new side he put them among the top ten clubs in the world and explained, “Inter are one of the 10 best teams in the world. I always want to do more and to score more. I regret having stopped scoring after the first two games, but I got an assist against Palermo and Roma and we’re first in the standings.
“I’m trying to do my best and when I do I’m sure everyone is happy. I’ve started well but I don’t have anything to prove to anyone.”
