Switch lab is entrusted for World Cup blood and urine testing

November 14, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Posing another blow to upcoming world cup host, FIFA has decided to test urine samples of all the players, not in Brazil, but in Switzerland – a move that can doubt Brazilian laboratory’s credential to property do the job. Apparently, it was earlier decided that all the samples would be tested in the host country at Ladetec laboratory in Rio de Janeiro, but after its accreditation was revoked by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), world’s soccer governing body decided to take the services of laboratory in the Olympic capital of Lausanne. The decision could bring a new embarrassment for Brazilian authorities as they are already under pressure after allegations of corruption in world cup expending and repeated extensions for widespread pending development work over there. It is actually not so simple to take the blood the urine samples across the Atlantic as it would cost more money to FIFA, yet governing body seems to be agreeing for an extra cost head into their balance sheet.

Many are taking it a failure for Brazil to completely host a global event and many are also questioning how they would manage to process such tests again during Olympic Games. At the moment, FIFA said they had “no other option” and informed an action plan they will move the qualified samples without running their structure with. Anyways, it should not be a problem for FIFA if they agree on extra spending coz many global logistic companies have offered their bids to delicately do the crucial job.

Looking at the whole picture, everyone is taking it as a preplanned step from governing body which must have prearranged much earlier – maybe during Confederation cup itself that is why LAD laboratory in Lausanne is already prepared to process so many samples within required timeframe.

The World Anti-Doping Agency has already prescribed in September all the parameters these tests need to be conducted on. The new method that uses only urine rather blood is the newest technology in the field of anti-doping and it is called The Steroid Passport – a new initiative to be implemented in this world cup for the first time. According to new standards, players’ profiles are scanned over a period of time to check all the surprise changes in their biological parameters to determine if they have taken or taking any banned drug to improve their stamina.
