Emirates Airline has been a strategic partner for Arsenal’s sponsorship revenues since 2004, when it signed a deal with Dubai based Airline Company. According to that contract, Emirates retained the right to name Arsenal’s home ground as Emirates Stadium until 2012 along with T-shirt sponsorship beginning from 2006. Now, the said deal has been extended for another period, i.e., the reds will now wear T-shirts bearing Emirates’ logo alongwith stadium’s extended naming rights until 2028. The stunning part of this extension is a whopping £150m amount which could be a cause of wariness for its arch rivals. This deal suppresses Liverpool’s record £80m four-year T-shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered too. Until now, Barcelona’s deal with Qatar Foundation, worth 30m euros per year, was the biggest. That included Barca’s kits featuring Qatar Foundation’s logo for the first time. Another similar agreement was entered earlier this year when ManU allowed bearing Chevrolet’s logo on its … [Read more...]

Arsenal is looking for a taker of Brazilian defender Andre Santos
Brazilian defender Andre Santos became more popular for not so good reasons in Arsenal’s premium league clash with Manchester United when he swapped his t-shirt with his ex-teammate Robin van Persie in public, especially when his team was trailing by 1-0. It was not the first time when Brazilian midfielder showed his not so professional attitude in field, perhaps his out of form has now become a major concern for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who now seems to be determined to sell him out in coming transfer window, if he manages to find a buyer. It is also learned that Santos will surely be axed from Gunner’s final squad for their upcoming Champions League match against Schalke on Tuesday night. However, Wenger backed him publicly by saying that his T shirt swap in the middle is not commendable but it did not contribute to his side’s bad performance. According to the latest published financial statement, its group profit has been risen from last year’s £14.8million.to £36.6million this year, before tax. Though, the group’s total turnover has not increased coz of its lesser revenues from property sale this year, but since it gained significant profit from player’s trading in last summer transfer window, it could achieve an enhanced profit this year than last year.
