There have been rumors all around in the last few months that Tito Vilanova could be axed citing his health problems. He has recently gone through his throat cancer surgery and now he is in US for post-surgery chemotherapy. This season; he was mostly seen outside of the ground for obvious reasons; hence his assistant coach Jordi Roura took his responsibilities in most of the matches. Now, sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has a put a dot on all rumors saying Tito will remain their head coach for at least next season or even for an extended period of time. Actually, Tito has been a source of inspiration for Barca teammates and that is why they could be able to redefine the history yesterday where they defeated Milan despite trailing by two goals on aggregate in the last 16. Messi shines in Barca 2-1 win over Granada
Lionel Messi is back again with his record making machinery and scored two brilliantly executed goals against Granada in the Champions League. His goals are also important coz they brought back Braca from a trailing position at half time, and more especially, they took over Messi tally of goals over 300 now. He added 300th and 301st goals to his all-time goals’ count and shines in the Barca’s win against Juan Antonio Anquela club. First goal of the game was scored by Odion Ighalo against all odds in the 26th minute of the game and they enjoyed the lead for remaining first half of the game. Messi returned the favor just after the halftime when he grabbed on a rebound of Cesc Fabregas’ strike and fired an equalizer. He then scored the winning goal in the last moments of the game with his brilliant free kick and took his league tally to 37 goals. Zambia FA and Flamengo to Challenge Messi’s Record
At the moment, everybody knows that Messi has broken Muller’s forty-year old record of scoring the maximum number of goals in one calendar year, but Zambia FA and Brazilian club Flamengo have now come forward and challenged Messi’s record saying their own players have scored more goals than Argentinean player in one calendar year. Zambia FA says it has sufficient evidence that shows that their club Kabwe Warriors’ striker Godfrey Chitalu has already scored 107 goals back in 1972, which is much more than the number set by Barca player. On the other hand, Brazilian club Flamengo has its own claim that says former Brazil captain Zico has also scored 89 goals back in 1979. In an interview given to a Brazilian sports daily, Bruno Lucena, head of Flamengo's research and statistics department, said, “We are upset.
