Chelsea recent form has been a kind of flip-flop where they won some matches while lost others. FA cup quarterfinal was the match they had always been looking to win, but it was never easy coz they were clashing with none other than Manchester United. The match began with a good note for United where they managed to secure a comprehensive lead right in the beginning of the game and everyone then thought it is all over for Chelsea at FA cup, but surprisingly, they fought back and leveled the initial lead in the last moments of the game forcing a replay of the quarterfinal. There have been few cases in the past where a team successfully chased a two goals’ lead, but Chelsea proved all predictions wrong and became the savior by securing a draw. Rooney, who was rested in the last Madrid game, secured an early lead for United along with Javier Hernandez; perhaps the score was 2-0 just after 11 minutes of the game which shows how dominant they would have been during rest of the game. But, … [Read more...]
Benitez prioritizes among top four EPL finish
No one would like to see the EPL’s final tally without its defending champion: Chelsea on a top position - perhaps among top four places. Chelsea’s temporary manager Rafael Benitez also hinted about his desire to at least make a comeback and secured one of the top four places, and for that, he is even willing to sacrifice their FA cup journey. According to him, they are playing too many matches these days hence they need to fix their priorities and select one of them rather jumping towards all of them. Notably, Chelsea’s chances of finishing among top four shunned on Sunday when City defeated them by 2-0, and now, Tottenham will be ahead of them if it overcomes West Ham at Upton Park on Monday night. For Benitez, their horror show on Sunday gave their rivals an opportunity to go ahead of them. When asked about any reason for ignoring Captain John Terry for their big fight with City, he said, it was necessary and a part of strategy for last few weeks of the EPL. However, when he was … [Read more...]
Is Rafael Benitez next on firing line?
Football seems to be the only game of sport where even the key officials’ job is not stable; they can be fired at any time without giving an opportunity to be heard. There have been many cases in the past where managers of top clubs are fired overnight citing their nonperformance or under estimated results. Chelsea is one team which is always optimistic to perform well in any league they play at; at least this is what their millions of fans think. Last time, Chelsea fired its manager coz of his shoddy performance, there was no one who agreed to take over the job on a permanent basis; hence Chelsea had to appoint a new manager on a temporary basis with a promise to make his job permanent if he proves his ability. For some time, Chelsea showed some magnificent victories but since last few matches; they are almost back to the place where their ex-manager left them. They have given up any hope to triumph back at EPL or in any other major league this season for that matter, and this is not … [Read more...]

But, after reaching on an agreement, new deal’s paperwork is supposed to be completed by next week. Ashley Cole has recently been linked with many clubs of Europe especially when he indicated his end of the term for London club. Notably, the amount agreed upon is the highest paid on per week basis for any player; however Cole could not succeed in securing a long term deal at this price. Even Chelsea is satisfied with the money they are riding on the player as they think he is worth of it, and club insiders said over piles of money they are paying to him, “Ash is getting around £200,000 a week but he is worth … [Read more...]
Walters’ two own goals help Chelsea win 4-0 over Stoke City
It would have been two of the most horrified moments for Stoke’s striker Jonathan Walters who ‘indirectly’ helped Chelsea in attaining a crushing victory over Stoke City on Saturday. Jonathan Walters was the player who not only missed a penalty kick but he also scored two goals in his own net: one just before the halftime and second in the 62 minute. The 29 year old striker, who has scored seven perfect goals this season, could not add more to his counting despite his good performance. This victory helped Chelsea in gaining the third spot in the EPL leaderboard right after Manchester United and Manchester City. Moreover, it is very close to second place holder: City who has 45 points out of its 21 played matches while Chelsea is just 4 points behind of it. Regardless of scoring two own goals, Walters has received support from his manager Tony Pulis who looks in no mood in penalizing his play; perhaps he praises his brave affords which could not be successful. Manager said, “We all have … [Read more...]
