Terry signals a comeback, played for Chelsea under-21 side

After almost two months of absence from the field; Chelsea captain could enter in the New Year with his recovery from knee injury. Notably, the captain was sidelined after he faced four matches’ suspension over his racial comment row and then his knee injury against Liverpool. Recently, he signaled a comeback when he attended Chelsea training session, and now, he played as an overage player for Chelsea under-21 team against neighbor Fulham on Thursday. Though, he stayed for only 45 minutes on the field, but each of his movements has been continuously tracked by interim manager Rafael Benitez who was presented at the stadium. Perhaps, his attendance also marked a moral boost among under-21 team and they defeated southwest London club by 2-0. Under-21 manager Dermot Drummy issued a statement via club website that reads as, “John inspires all of the players. He leads by example but the most important thing from the club's point of view is that he looked in good shape.” Though, the … [Read more...]

Chelsea set to sign Newcastle’s Demba Ba

As the English club Chelsea is surging in its position in the EPL’s leaderboard, it is more aggressively showing interest in signing best talent around. Under its hunt for next month’s transfer window, European champion has now targeted Newcastle United striker Demba Ba for a probable transfer deal. If it does what it wants to be, Ba will be the third player Chelsea has shown interest in. The only glitch in the contract is the price tag; Chelsea has offered a £7.5 million along with agents’ fee, but Ba’s representative seems not interested in the amount being offered by the Blues. Reportedly, a meeting was held between Chelsea’s representatives and Ba’s agent but ended without reaching upon an agreement late night. However, both parties show their curiosity to reach a final settlement. When asked about the meeting, Chelsea’s temporary manager Rafa Benitez refused to comment anything as of now. In English Premier League, Chelsea has ended this year with a win over Everton on Sunday, … [Read more...]

Meireles ban reduces to four matches

Meireles ban reduces to four matches

Former Chelsea and Liverpool star and current Fenerbahce midfielder has finally got his eleven matches’ suspension reduced to just four matches. The relaxation he got is warranted by his club Fenerbahce who appealed against his prolonged ban judgment by Turkey football association. He got an extended ban after he was alleged spitting on match referee in a clash against archrival Galatasaray last week. However, he and his club both refused to accept spitting allegations as leveled against the midfielder. Turkey's football arbitration board, after hearing player’s defense, sustains his initial three matches ban along with one match extra ban for showing unethical conduct on the pitch. The said relaxation came after he successfully convinced the disciplinary board that he can never deliberately spit on referee, perhaps whatever happened was just a matter of confusion. CCTV footages also helped him in proving his side of defense; hence he got his ban reduction by Turkish Football … [Read more...]

Chelsea celebrates their big win over Villa

Chelsea celebrates their big win over Villa

8 - 0 This is something amazing happened to Chelsea after they see the worst for them in recent times. Their scoring machine leveled most of their last defeats by surging their average goal per match count to three. Moreover, their astonishing win over Villa in premium league made it sure that Rafael Benítez’s team will better be placed at the third spot in EPL. Aston Villa must have been feeling pity when they have been slapping one after another goal by Blues’ force. More interestingly, Chelsea fired 8 goals in total and none of the goals could be answered by Villa, perhaps, total count would have been much more should Villa goalkeeper have not done a splendid job by stopping many brilliant shots fired by the Blues. This is probably the first time in history when seven different players scored for Chelsea’s eight fired goals. Despite a biggest ever EPL win in recent times, Rafael Benitez still sees much room for improvement in the team. After the match, the jubilant manager told … [Read more...]

Rafael Benitez to use David Luiz in the midfield

Everyone knows that a soccer player usually has a defined position to play, and this position becomes his identity if he performs well there. Brazilian attacking players are one of those who love to stick to their natural positions. Brazilian striker David Luiz, who also plays for English club Chelsea, faces similar problems when he plays at central defense, coz he is a born striker; perhaps he suffered many injuries in that position due to his attacking tendency. Now, Chelsea’s temporary boss Rafael Benitez has decided to use him at midfield along with John Terry once Terry returns from his injury. Notably, Terry is out of the game ever since he got an injury last November. However, for the time being, or until Terry returns, Luiz will continue playing on his familiar role of central defense. Actually, Luiz has seen making many critical mistakes at defense when he tries to run forward leaving an escape in Chelsea’s defense, and that is why Benitez is forced to look out an alternate … [Read more...]
