English Premier League is counting its days and so its leaderboard’s final positions. Top two positions are almost fixed with their takers while a fight is still on for the third and fourth places in the league. There are three contenders for these two positions who are close to each other: Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham. These three teams are almost equal with their points; however, Arsenal has played 36 matches while Chelsea has played two matches less than it. So, at the moment, Arsenal and Chelsea have occupied the third and fourth places while Tottenham is at fifth place with an equal number of points as Chelsea. Chelsea set to sign Newcastle’s Demba Ba
As the English club Chelsea is surging in its position in the EPL’s leaderboard, it is more aggressively showing interest in signing best talent around. Under its hunt for next month’s transfer window, European champion has now targeted Newcastle United striker Demba Ba for a probable transfer deal. If it does what it wants to be, Ba will be the third player Chelsea has shown interest in. The only glitch in the contract is the price tag; Chelsea has offered a £7.5 million along with agents’ fee, but Ba’s representative seems not interested in the amount being offered by the Blues. Reportedly, a meeting was held between Chelsea’s representatives and Ba’s agent but ended without reaching upon an agreement late night. Leeds new owners promise to return its glory days
Last week, Dubai based GFH Capital extended their existing 33% stake in iconic English club Leeds United to 100% and became the new owner of it. Post-acquisition, GFH officials are now preparing to take over the top positions in Leads’ board of directors, including its chief operation officer. The new management has various plans to improve the miserable position of once ruling English club to return it in its glorious days. The new director of Leads said about their optimistic takeover, “We are looking forward to a bright future and we regard this is a fresh start for the football club that we hope will make the fans happy, both old and new. Sir Alex Ferguson not to sign any new player this January
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to remain low profiled next month ruling out any new sign up to strengthen the Red Devils. Notably, there are many players who were being linked to United in last few months, including Robert Lewandowski, Theo Walcott and Wilfried Zaha among others, but now they all seem to be better placed where they are. Manchester City Report Condensed Losses
Being an English Premier League title hold means a lot for Manchester City, and it perfectly explored all commercial possibilities of being a champion and managed to raise its commercial revenues to a respectable level. Last year, Manchester City reported a net loss of around £189.6m which is now reduced to £93.4m according to its latest issued financial figures. Its operational revenues surged by more than 51% to £231.1m making it one of the best performing clubs in English premier league on both financial and performance front. It was the first UEFA Champions League season where City participated and its involvement there helped it raised around £22m commercial revenues.
