FA Cup final to kick off at 5.15pm
VS. A live telecast generates higher revenue than live spectators, this is known to everyone, but this is probably the first time when FA has rescheduled a final match just to facilitate its broadcasters rather caring about thousands of fans who want to return home on the same day. FA cup final is scheduled to play between first timer Wigan and Manchester City and this match is expected to be full of entertainment coz of Wigan, who is in fine form, and City, who is also looking to win its second trophy in last three seasons. As confirmed by FA, this year’s FA cup final will be kicked off on 5.15pm leaving no room for fans to return back if match goes into the extra time. Wigan Enters into FA cup final amid stadium violence
Wigan Athletic Football Club made a history in itself by entering into the FA cup final for the first time in their cup history of 81 years by defeating Championship side Millwall at Wembley. The victory is even special for them looking at the 2-0 margin they managed to lead with. Wigan was very much in control during the whole game and scored one goal before and after the lunch session taking their team to a historic final. First goal was fired by Maloney at 25th minute while second one was netted by McManaman at 78th minute. It was rather a bad day for Millwall coz they could never match the speed and stamina shown by Wigan’s men. However, the match is also remembered for crowd violence during the last moments of the match by Millwall fans which became uncontrollable by security personnel. Chelsea show its strength in FA cup quarterfinal, force a replay
Chelsea recent form has been a kind of flip-flop where they won some matches while lost others. FA cup quarterfinal was the match they had always been looking to win, but it was never easy coz they were clashing with none other than Manchester United. The match began with a good note for United where they managed to secure a comprehensive lead right in the beginning of the game and everyone then thought it is all over for Chelsea at FA cup, but surprisingly, they fought back and leveled the initial lead in the last moments of the game forcing a replay of the quarterfinal. There have been few cases in the past where a team successfully chased a two goals’ lead, but Chelsea proved all predictions wrong and became the savior by securing a draw. Manchester United beat Reading to reach into FA Cup quarterfinal
2 - 1 Manchester United secured its place in the FA cup’s quarterfinal by beating Reading in the pre-quarterfinal with a comprehensive margin. They beat Reading easily by 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday. United, indeed, remained on the driver seat throughout the game, but it was Nani and Javier Hernandez who changed the result in its favor by scoring two quick goals. Reading is among the few clubs who are known for their rock solid defense and that is why Alex Ferguson men had to struggle to cross their net despite having in control throughout the match. There 2-1 victory over Reading took them to the quarterfinal where they will clash with the winner of Chelsea and Middlesbroug. The game was leveled until 69th minute when two prompt goals fired by Nani and Javier Hernandez within three minutes ensured their victory, though, Jobi McAnuff put some resistance and scored a goal in the 82nd minute but it was too late by then.
