In a bid to make coming World Cup full of technology rich, FIFA is working overnight to empanel as many Goal-line providers as it can so that they could have a variety of options when it comes to choosing one of the best goal line technologies. Until now, there were three providers who were licensed to offer their systems for FIFA matches including coming world cup and now FIFA has added one more provider under its licensed list of goal line technology providers. The newest goal-line licensee is called as GoalControl 4D system which is a German based provider and works on the basis of 14 high speed cameras to capture every frame of the moment and determines if ball has crossed the line or not. Technology enters soccer; Goal-Line Technology is now a reality
The most talk about technological input in soccer has finally been approved for use by soccer’s global governing body FIFA, and after its go ahead signal, such a technology will officially be a part of 2014 FIFA world cup in Brazil. Broadly, there are four providers of this technology based on their own method and which one of them will be used is not yet decided. FIFA has planned to issue a tender asking all interested providers and then it will decide which one should be used finally. The ultimate chosen technology will then be used in summer’s Confederations Cup in Brazil before world up. Now, an electronic chip to monitor players’ health during game
Under current laws of the game, no electronic communication is allowed between players, who are on the field, and staff, officials, etc. But now, a possibility is being developed where players can be relaxed to wear a microchip which would be a smart medical chip and its job would be to analysis and scan players’ health during play. Right now, this exceptional change is in discussion stage, but if rumors are to be believed, it will start on a trial basis from next month. IFAB, the International FA Board which is responsible to draw the laws of the game, has been asked to implement the trail from coming month. Though, there is no decided place where such a chip will be installed; some are advising it to be placed on collar while others are advising it to be in the strips. FIFA president Blatter believes match fixing is not as widened as being claimed
While the European investigation agency Europol is busy in finding more and more fixed matches in the recent times. FIFA president has come forward in support of the game’s pride; he believes soccer has always been a gentlemen’s sport, and deposit European investigators’ allegations that more than 600 matches from last eighteen months were fixed; there are more than a million other matches which were played in a clean environment; hence there is no way match fixing can damage the esteem of the game. FIFA president Sepp Blatter played down the exaggerated revelation made by Europol and said, “Football is so big, we will overcome. It is a small percentage. Spain Dominate FIFPro World XI Nominees’ List
The fifteen players’ list of FIFA/FIFPro’s World XI 2012 has been released yesterday, and again, this list has some of the interesting soccer names. The joint venture of soccer’s supreme governing body FIFA and professional players association FIFPro unveiled just recently. The interesting segment is the midfield of this world XI which is being dominated by Spanish players as there are six Spanish players among 15 nominated. Other usual names are Barcelona starlet Xavi and Iniesta who could make their entry for the third consecutive year in a row.
