The most talk about technological input in soccer has finally been approved for use by soccer’s global governing body FIFA, and after its go ahead signal, such a technology will officially be a part of 2014 FIFA world cup in Brazil. Broadly, there are four providers of this technology based on their own method and which one of them will be used is not yet decided. FIFA has planned to issue a tender asking all interested providers and then it will decide which one should be used finally. The ultimate chosen technology will then be used in summer’s Confederations Cup in Brazil before world up. If everything goes as planned, EPL has also promised to implement it from next season, and as expected, more leagues will also follow this innovative product of the twenty first century. Goal Line Technology? A Realty – At Last!
So, the countdown has begun for the introduction of new-age technology that is expected to overcome old human based likely errors. While this technology is also in the hit list of humanoid favorites, there is also a section which is eagerly waiting for it to happen. FIFA has confirmed that it will use this technology for the first time in Club World Cup wherein both goal line technology providers’ techniques would be judged for their help in determining when ball actually crosses the goal line. Until now, there are only two providers of this technology, and both of them work on different principles, while GoalRef system uses specially made magnet area around both goal posts, Hawk-Eye system uses additional cameras on both the goal sites to catch each second of a goal with highest resolutions. Goal-line Technology Gets FIFA Approval
Technology comes closer to soccer with FIFA’s approval to use goal line technology in soccer games. Goal line technology enables technological assistance in finding if a doubtful goal is actually a legal goal or not. At the moment, there are two solution providers of this goal line technology: one is Hawkeye and other is GoalRef, and both of them have got FIFA’s approval at the moment. FIFA’s approval means these two systems can now be implanted in any league or competition provided both these systems do pass a final inspection test before their use. Predictably, FIFA club world cup, to be held in December, will be the first event to have this technology usage.
