Barcelona would have to wait another week for La Liga title

April 29, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Barcelona is leading the La Liga leaderboard with a good eleven points’ margin from its closest rival Real Madrid, but their wait for the crown is yet extended by their arch rival Real when they defeated their city-mate Atletico Madrid by 2-1. The pushed delay is further extended by Barcelona himself when they drew with Athletic Bilbao by 2-2. Last few matches of the league were not so much significant as far series title winner is concerned, coz Barca is probably the winner this season; it is all about when they will be crowned their triumph coz they still have to play five games in the series. Real Madrid last clash with Atletico was perhaps their great contribution to delay Barca title race coz it was their win which made them gain full points and Barca draw which restricts them with half points and both these results significantly delayed the title ceremony for the Camp Nou club. Madrid win was actually their best attempt to prove why they are considered as the arch rival of … [Read more...]

Messi could not save Barcelona losing second straight loss to Madrid

March 4, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Spanish league La Liga is getting more interesting as it is reaching to its end, perhaps, in reality, there is no one to stop Barcelona winning La Liga title this season, but its arch rival Real Madrid did a splendid job to beat Barca two times in five days in two different leagues. Though, Madrid is still on the third position, but its margin is narrowed significantly from both Barca as well as second place holder Atletico. Its latest 2-1 victory over Barca proved what Tito Vilanova’s team is missing. On the other hand, this victory will surely boost the confidence level of Jose Mourinho’s men, especially ahead of their Champions league clash with Manchester United. Messi put some resistance to save his team but nothing could work in his favor, though he scored one goal. It is also a wake up call for Barcelona coz it has lost last few matches on a surprising note, like two consecutive victories to Madrid and a 2-0 loss to AC Milan in the Champions League. Actually, absence of its head … [Read more...]

Messi finally signs his Barca contract until 2018

February 9, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Everybody knows Messi has agreed on extending his stay at Camp Nou until 2018 in December last year. Now, the paperwork of said deal has also been completed and Messi has signed it making it sure that contemporary soccer starlet never leaves Barca – at least for his professional lifetime. His two colleagues: defender Puyol and midfielder Xavi have already sealed their respective extension contracts last month; only Messi’s contract was pending. Barcelona, who is leading the leaderboard of La Liga with a comfortable margin is well-known for securing its star players for a longer period of time, if not for the lifetime; hence it do everything it can for maintaining its supremacy in the world of soccer. In La Liga, Barca is being followed by Atletico Madrid and then by Real Madrid. Real could be a tough challenge for it, but looking at their last few matches, it is very much unlikely they will even end their season in a close position to their arch rivals. Cristiano Ronaldo’s own goal cost Madrid a defeat by Granada

Cristiano Ronaldo’s own goal cost Madrid a defeat by Granada

In a dramatic turnaround at La Liga, defending champion Real Madrid faces a shocking 1-0 defeat at Granada on Saturday pushing itself even further of the title. However, the match is more famous by its star striker Cristiano Ronaldo who could only find his own net to score the only goal of the match, it was his first own goal of the career. La Liga tally has become even more interesting by this surprising defeat of one of the strongest contenders of the title apart from leading Barcelona. Moreover, Barca has to play its next match with Valencia on Sunday and if they could win it, their lead to their arch rival will be widened to 18 points which would be even more difficult for Real to catch up. Looking at the Real performance in last few matches, it is rather shocking for its fans to see it losing by just one goal; perhaps at a time when they have scored nine goals in their last two league games. Ronaldo debacle did not come all of a sudden; he was suffering from ankle injury but … [Read more...]

Government defines new ‘financial fair play’ rules for Spanish clubs

February 1, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Spanish soccer clubs have ever been the most money rolling clubs where they throw away millions of dollars to buy a player of their choice irrespective of the fact whether they have maintained their accounts properly or not. Even if they do, they did not require sending their accounts for scrutiny. But now, this scenario is going to change with proposed changes in the fair play rules which are much like of English financial fair play. According to new rules, every La Liga club will have to send its accounts for the scrutiny every year and only if accounts are in order, it will be allowed to buy any player of its interest. Spanish government and the Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) jointly drafted these changes which are going to be applicable from next season. At the moment, there are 20 La Liga clubs enjoying more than €3 billion of wealth, and if these rules are imposed as they are being stated now, Spain will be the next country after England to impose financial restrictions over … [Read more...]
