Spanish league La Liga is heating up as its two strongest contenders Barcelona and Real Madrid’s have tightened their grips over opponents. Sunday was the day of two brightest soccer players of contemporary soccer: Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid when they crushed their opponents with a power pack display on Sunday. While, Barcelona defeated 10-man Osasuna by a comprehensive margin of 5-1; its arch rival Real Madrid is not far behind; it also overpowered Getafe by 4-0. Casillas axed for up to 12 weeks for his hand fracture
La Liga club Real Madrid would surely be dreaming to defeat its arch rival Barcelona in coming weeks, but it would have never imagined that it would have to do the task without its ace goalie. Madrid first goalkeeper and captain Casillas got his left hand fractured when he collided with teammate Alvaro Arbeloa accidentally in his attempt to recuse the ball during Wednesday’s 1-1 tie with Valencia in the Spanish Cup. Later, his injury found to be serious one and he had to undergo a surgery immediately. Having a bone surgery means laid off for at least 12 weeks; hence he will also miss the field for a similar term. His club issued a statement containing doctor’s brief about the injury; statement scripted by chief medical officer Carlos Diez reads as, “The period of unavailability is between eight and 12 weeks. Barcelona lost their first match in La Liga
3-2 It could have not been a better win for Real Sociedad than defeating top contender of the trophy Barcelona; perhaps, this game became more significant for them when they crushed Tito Vilanova’s army who tasted their first setback in the series. Real Sociedad showed their power play when they came back in fashion after trailing by two goals and won one of the most interesting matches of La Liga. Right from the start, Messi and his men dominated the game when both of Barca’s first line of strikers Lionel Messi and Pedro Rodriguez scored one goal each within first 25 minutes of the game. Ronaldo gives a tribute to himself
Cristiano Ronaldo is back, perhaps back with a bang! Real Madrid lost two matches in a row, and finally saw the magic of its star striker Ronaldo who scored two fantastic goals in quick succession to crown a much needed win to his club. With this win, Madrid has improved its position in the leaderboard, yet well behind top positioned Barcelona. Both of his goals came in 68th and 70th minute of the game. Despite a powerful performance in the match, Ronaldo faced many criticisms coz of his inconsistence performances which is a little heart breaker for the striker. Real Sociedad is having a dream run in La Liga series this season where it is still unbeaten even after playing seven games. This is one of their best performances in Spanish football league in many years. Leave apart what they are doing on the field; let’s talk about one of their elite initiatives where Donostia based club is acknowledging its fans by wearing t-shirts appearing names of its members. This is one of the most innovative ideas to say ‘thank you’ to fans across the globe.
