Rudi Garcia is the new Roma coach

Soccer is a game where top performers are always on the radar of more than one clubs and Lille coach Rudi Garcia is one such soccer personality who has a proven track record on the field. He has been one of the most successful coaches for his French football club and took them to league and cup double. He also got France’s coach of the year award in 2011; hence was a long time wish for Serie A club. The present deal is apparently for two year term but with a clause to extend it further if Roma want to and the agreed price for current deals is around 1.5 million euros per season which is much more than he has been getting at Lille. The deal was finalized last week, when Garcia held talks with Roma’s US based bosses back in the New York and became the third official coach for the club in three years. Actually, Roma has changed three coaches in three years and everytime they hire a new coach they expect him to perform right away which sometime is not possible looking at their team and … [Read more...]

Roma sack manager Zdenek Zeman

The current Serie A spell of Italian club Roma is not going smoothly; perhaps they are still missing a win after playing five matches and laying on the eight spot on the leaderboard. Their recent surprising defeat to Cagliari by 4-2 on Friday stunned the think tanks of the club; the loss required an urgent step and righty so club director held a crucial meeting and took a bold step by firing manager Zdenek Zeman all of a sudden. Zeman spent just seven months at Stadio Olimpico, and more interestingly, he was one of the favorite managers when he joined Roma last season coz he had already coached them in early nineties. This time, it looks Roma players could not match up his attacking style of play which even made Roma defense more vulnerable. This is exactly what happened with him when he was hired by the club in 1990s. Now, there seems to be no hope for him to coach any other big soccer club citing his bad track record off late. Anyways, performance is what matters in soccer today, and … [Read more...]

Five-year Ban for Violent Roma Fans

December 1, 2012 by 888Scoreonline

Some sort of violence has ever been a part of soccer games, especially if a match is being played at a crucial stage or between two teams having long running revelry. But, no violence has probably been as severe as it happened in a Europa League group stage match in Italy when many Tottenham fans were planned attacked by Roma fans. Perhaps, the injuries were so grim that some of them were in critical condition when they were taken to a nearby hospital. One fan: Ashley Mills, 25, of Essex, was stabbed by an unidentified man and remained in the hospital, while some are discharged after giving first aid treatment. The planned attack was carried out by a group of peoples who stormed the Drunken Ship pub in Rome last week and stabbed many Tottenham supporters ahead of a Europa League clash with Spurs. Two AS Roma fans: Francesco Ianari, 26, and Mauro Pinnelli, 25 have earlier been booked under attempt to murder charge, but later in court, their charges were downgraded to aggravated wounding … [Read more...]

September 25, 2012 by 888Scoreonline

Cagliari and Roma Serie A Match postponed for security laps

Is Arenas stadium is again in the news for its substandard security measures or rather uncontrolled behavior of its home crowd. In a latest turnaround, forthcoming match between Cagliari and Roma was scheduled for coming Sunday, but the same has now been postponed for improper security arrangements at the stadium. Actually, there were some cases of crowd misbehavior so authorities decided that this match has to be played under closed doors without the presence of any spectator, which Cagliari ignored altogether. Perhaps, Cagliari asked its fans through its website to come and gather on the stadium irrespective of what authorities say about it. However, they asked their fans to come and meet peacefully to avoid any untoward happenings. This overruling of authority’s order has been taken up seriously by the authorities, so they held a late night meeting with local police and decided this postponement. Many think that Cagliari provoked its fans to come and join the match which is … [Read more...]
