Soccer is always considered a money rolling game where everyone seems to be running after it. It holds true for everyone, including players, officials, and even fans, but there are some rare incidents where these prevailing theories hold incorrect, like in case of Brazilian midfielder Kaka who plays for Serie A club AC Milan. He got injured on Saturday in his first competitive match for his new Italian club after spending four years in Spain playing for Real Madrid. His adductor muscle injury initially seemed not so serious, but for further investigations, he went for advance diagnostics processes and waiting for reports. These reports will confirm how much time he would require to fully recover, until then; he will not take his salary from San Siro club. He said after sustaining an unintended injury, “Yesterday was a tough day for me as I found out about my injury. I certainly didn't expect this type of injury at this time. It has been hard and difficult. I spoke to the club a lot … [Read more...]
Rudi Garcia is the new Roma coach
Soccer is a game where top performers are always on the radar of more than one clubs and Lille coach Rudi Garcia is one such soccer personality who has a proven track record on the field. He has been one of the most successful coaches for his French football club and took them to league and cup double. He also got France’s coach of the year award in 2011; hence was a long time wish for Serie A club. The present deal is apparently for two year term but with a clause to extend it further if Roma want to and the agreed price for current deals is around 1.5 million euros per season which is much more than he has been getting at Lille. The deal was finalized last week, when Garcia held talks with Roma’s US based bosses back in the New York and became the third official coach for the club in three years. Actually, Roma has changed three coaches in three years and everytime they hire a new coach they expect him to perform right away which sometime is not possible looking at their team and … [Read more...]
Fiorentina shrinks Milan’s chances for a second place Serie A finish
Nothing could be worse than watching your two goals lead equalized by a team having just ten players on the field. This is something that happened with AC Milan who gained two goals initial lead yet they could not earn full points coz their host successfully followed their lead and ended the game in a 2-2- draw. Milan was hoping to earn full points just for making it sure they will end up their Serie A campaign with a second place, but Fiorentina capitalized their two late penalties and equalized the game. Milan was on target right from the beginning when former Viola midfielder Riccardo Montolivo scored first goal of the game in the 14th minutes. Their initial lead also cemented by a red card to Nenad Tomovic in the 39th minute and reduced their opponent’s strength significantly. Within one hour, Frenchman Mathieu Flamini enhanced their lead by another goal; now things were very much in Rossoneri control until Adem Ljajic and David Pizarro could manage to equalize their edge in the … [Read more...]
Roma sack manager Zdenek Zeman
The current Serie A spell of Italian club Roma is not going smoothly; perhaps they are still missing a win after playing five matches and laying on the eight spot on the leaderboard. Their recent surprising defeat to Cagliari by 4-2 on Friday stunned the think tanks of the club; the loss required an urgent step and righty so club director held a crucial meeting and took a bold step by firing manager Zdenek Zeman all of a sudden. Zeman spent just seven months at Stadio Olimpico, and more interestingly, he was one of the favorite managers when he joined Roma last season coz he had already coached them in early nineties. This time, it looks Roma players could not match up his attacking style of play which even made Roma defense more vulnerable. This is exactly what happened with him when he was hired by the club in 1990s. Now, there seems to be no hope for him to coach any other big soccer club citing his bad track record off late. Anyways, performance is what matters in soccer today, and … [Read more...]
Udinese defender Danilo sentenced to jail for racism
In a dramatic end of a racial drama happened in 2010, a Brazilian court has sentenced one year imprisonment for Udinese defender Danilo in a case where he allegedly spit on the face of Atletico Paranese’s Manoel and called him a Monkey back in 2010 while playing for Palmeiras in the Copa do Brazil. The 28 year old Udinese defender made a shift from Palmeiras in the summer 2011 and continues to play for them till date. Playing for Udinese he has since made 25 appearances in Serie A. His sentence looks harsh apparently, but at the time when this incident took place, it was the most hated crime on the field which was widely criticized from every corner of the word, perhaps, many media channels advocated his life ban. Further, it is very much unlikely that the player would get any imprisonment, coz as expected, he will file an appeal and his sentence would likely be reduced to a fine rather sending him behind the bars. It is probably the first case in recent times, when a player has been … [Read more...]
