There have been various theories over what is the biggest motivational force for any soccer team, is it the players who are inside the team, or is it the manager who drives them inside a game. But overall, there has been a globally accepted belief that any side that is high on spirit as well morale scores more no matter if it has any big name with it. This is something that seems to be happening with Liverpool who is missing several big names that used to be associated with them until few seasons ago but this is lack of maturity of their top management that they let their star performers go away that easily. Now, when team is not having any big name and we are in a transfer window, everyone expects new manager Jurgen Klopp to behave aggressively in the summer but on the contrary 49-year-old German boss is not willing to accept there is any need to hire starlets in the field, however, what he believes is the team spirit and players morale which should be high all the time.
This could be his genuine statement while his critics are calling it his inability to convince star payers to join the Anfield side. In any way, Reds will possibly be without any name in the upcoming English as well hence pressure will be upon the manager to prove his statement with a striking show in the field. Even then, German boss has added players like Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, and Loris Karius to his squad which should be more than enough for his summer needs. Anyways, talking about what is more important – players or team spirit – Klopp said, “If we go for players and there is obviously no chance, there is no point. Look for players you can have and make the best of it. I am 100 percent happy with the guys we have brought in until now.
“This period in every year is one of a lot of expectations. Everyone expects big names and a big improvement because of big names and if you don’t know the players it’s like ‘What are we doing? What are they doing?’ Nobody thinks about the good games we played last season,” he added. “They only think United or City have taken this player and we have taken what’s-his-name, but for us it is about creating and building a team for next year. We have to prove that our thinking about the team is right. We have to build a special bond with the right mentality. It is using experience, using the base and not killing the base and starting completely new.”
