This English season has been remarkable in at least one respect, i.e., King Power side Leicester City has surprised everyone with its all-round performance in the English topflight, in fact, its dominance in the premier league is so evident that they could maintain their leadership on top of the leaderboard longer than enough to be named as the next league champion. The credit of their impressive show does not go to one player or manager yet there are few players who made a brilliant contribution to their success and one of them is 29-year-old Jamie Vardy who netted 19 goals in Foxes title tilt. Knowingly, he was nowhere before season starts and now he is a household name in England and everyone wants to know more about him, but few know that it was Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson who first saw a great potential in him and called him against the Republic of Ireland game. Before that he used to be a part of non-league Stocksbridge Park Steels and Anvil pub in Sheffield occasionally and now after his eye opening performance in English topflight, every side is eying over him and preparing a mouthwatering offer to sign him next transfer window.
Talking about his maiden successful spell and what went in his favor that he could play 11 consecutive premium league games without a miss, 29-year-old English forward said, “I wouldn’t know, I don’t really leave the house. Literally train, home, kids, dogs, my missus and it is time to go to bed. You do get that chance when you are at home, but that is when you want to relax and forget about it for a bit if you can. As soon as you get back to training, or stepping over that white line, that is when you are fully focused on your football.”
Adding about the treatment he got within the side for his past where he used to play for non-league sides, he said, “I don’t think the lads are like that at all. Everyone is sound and quite close-knit, to be honest, even though we are at different clubs. There is none of that that goes off. I feel exactly the same. When you come into this environment, the lads all make you welcome straight away. You are there for a reason and the boss tells you exactly why he has picked you. He doesn’t want you to change anything, he just wants you to do exactly what you have been doing week in, week out for your club.
“If I had any advice for Danny, it would just be do exactly the same as what he has been doing.”
