Spanish footballer Thiago Alcantara, who plays for Spanish FC Barcelona as a midfielder, is all set to miss the field for at least 8 weeks due to his knee injury he got in the last match between Barcelona and Sevilla which was won by Barcelona by 3-2. The deepness of said injury was informed by the club through its statement on its website where it mentioned, “Thiago will be out for eight weeks after tests confirmed damaged ligament in his right knee. The player will undergo conservative treatment, with doctors estimating he’ll be out for up to eight weeks.” The 21 years old starlet will surely miss for next two months when Barcelona will be facing Celtic. For tomorrow’s match with Portuguese Benfica in Portuguese Liga, Carles Puyol, Adriano, and Andres Iniesta have been named in the traveling squad. Barcelona maintains its 100% record this season in La Liga with its last win but at the cost of an undesired injury that laid its star player out. At the moment, there are two or three options that can replace Thiago and one of them is Iniesta, who has now completely recovered from his muscle injury.
Besides, there are also Puyol and Adriano who are also ready to face the challenge after their muscles recovery. There is another important match for Barcelona on Sunday where it will be facing its arch rival Real Madrid. Since Thiago was in great form at this time, his absence could cost Barcelona some nightmares coz there are many important clashes it has to face in next two months. An in-form player can be substituted by other players but there is no guarantee that other players would be able to showcase their best as the in-form player would have shown. So, Barcelona’s sporting director: Andoni Zubizarreta has a defined plan to face Benfica in Champions League on Monday. This is an important week for Barcelona when it will face two most competitive teams in two different series and this time a loss of an in-form player can be a costly one.
Thirty years old Spanish striker: David Villa could also find his way for the next match in Portugal where he expects another win even with Thiago’s absence. Villa said, “We’re pleased to leave for Portugal on the back of such an important result but now we have to focus on the match in Lisbon. It’s a difficult game and that’s why we can’t afford ourselves the luxury to relax. We want the three points.” So, let’s wait and watch Barcelona for its next couple of matches!
