The success of every club in any league is determined by its ranking on the board an if it is better than last year, it is generally believed to be a good show but if we are talking about side like Manchester United, there is something more fans would expect from their high profile manager Van Gaal. Although, Dutchman has been subjected to severe criticism for not taking his side among the top four, but it is true that Red Devils have delivered way better than last season when they struggled in every department of the game and this is what is being said by the Manchester boss as well. Old Trafford side’s back to back win over Arsenal and Watford last week have taken them close to the top four and if they continue delivering likewise, they can surely qualify for the next Champions League which would be the minimum fans would expect from any manager.
United is going to visit West Brom today and everyone would eye how they perform on foreign pitch and if they have confidence to beat Tony Pulis army which is way below to them on the board. Anyways, calling current campaign better than the last one, Van Gaal expects some credit and resiliency in what everyone thinks about his role leading ManU especially after keeping them alive in both Europa League and the FA Cup, he said, “I think this team is better than last year’s, but we don’t get the benefit of that because we have had so many injuries. When we had only three or four players injured earlier in the season, we were first in the Premier League. But nobody remembers that.
“Last year, we also had a lot of injuries, but then you could say that our training schedule was maybe too heavy. But this year, we have only had contact injuries. There are no muscle problems, only contact injuries, so it is not our fault any more.
“This year, we have a smaller group than last year, but we have an injury list of 14 or 15 players. Every week we have a big problem. So to reach our aim to be in the Champions League, it would be fantastic, and it would mean my staff will have done fantastically well. But, of course, so have the players, because they have to adapt every week to playing alongside new teammates.”
