Violence has ever been a part of soccer, in fact, usually it is being linked with the losing team reaction towards the defeat and most of the time fans are involved in it. We have seen how some of the biggest tragedies happened on football grounds after a high profile match, especially when underdogs perfume better. Championship league is one of the widest recognized tourneys comprising almost every big European team and when it comes to its last sixteen, emotions start overcoming actual strengths and this is what seems to be happening in European league. Reportedly, BVB – a German football club – defeated Zenit – a Russian football club- and we saw how some groups of BVB fans reacted over the defeat. According to local police, several Dortmund fans were chased and assaulted by several groups of peoples later identified as Zenit fans. Zenit St. Petersburg is the same stadium where Championship League last-sixteen match will soon be played hence this violence could mean a lot for UEFA. Such a ferocity was expected by the local police therefore had issued a guideline to German fans and asked them to stay away of lonely places after the match.
Some media houses reported than total injured peoples are more than 50 and most of them have sustained minor injuries like fractured nose and a slight fracture, even though, this incident can never be accepted especially if such a venue is recognized by European Governing body for hosting one of the last sixteen matches. As a precautionary measure, UEFA has asked Zenit’s general director Maxim Mitrofanov to close down the section of sensitive part in upcoming UEFA match. Apart from this, Mitrofanov further assured that “An especially sharp tightening of security measures. UEFA adopted sanctions and security measures in accordance with the disciplinary regulations.
“Petrovsky Stadium was partially disqualified — all four ‘Ultra’ sections will be closed for the match. Fans with season tickets to these sections will not be allowed into the stadium. These fans will not be allowed to buy tickets to other sectors of the stadium either. That would contradict UEFA’s sanctions. Season ticket holders for disqualified sectors will not be allowed into the territory of the stadium. I’m forced to disappoint those season ticket holders from the prohibited sections who wish to still get inside the stadium — they won`t be able to do so.”
He tried to convince travelling fans that they would offer world class hospitality along with foolproof security in upcoming matches; hence no one should afraid of visiting this place in any circumstance.
