Lionel Messi and his injuries have been the great cause of concern for his fans and admirers and this list includes some of the finest talents we ever had in soccer. Everyone knows this season is not as happening as the last few had been for the 26-year-old Argentine footballer, but this is also a fact that lots of things have happened with both Barcelona and national team that did not let him perform with full strength and injuries are just one of them. Recently, when he vomited on the pitch during initial period of the match, everyone assumed that he is not fully fit and just playing to answer his critics and even media highlighted his vomiting more than actual match results. Some channels also clicked his high definition pictures while vomiting and compared the incident with August 2011 one when he did the similar act playing for Barca against Real Madrid and then in Match 2013 during a World Cup qualifier. Neither Messi nor team manager took the matter as seriously as media highlighted and politely talked about it in a post-match press meet. Even Messi told this is not a strange thing and happens to him most of time during or before a game hence there should not be an unwanted panic about the instance.
Messi talked about the game and his health to a news source and said, “It happens to me all the time. It has happened various times with the club too. It is not anything that has not happened before. It is not about making excuses but the condition of the pitch did not help us play a great game. We will aim to keep improving in the games that are left. We needed to try to play quickly, to move the ball to find spaces, but this could not be done today because you slip over. The pitch was not good.”
Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella also copied the star forward and straightforwardly said, “Leo had a problem, some retching. He took some water and it passed quickly.” He denied accepting that their performance was bad in any way, however added, “We are OK. It is a pity that we could not take many conclusions out of today’s game. We deserved the win. In the first half we had more individual plays than collective moves, and in the second half it was the opposite. They had numerical superiority from the start. As the game went on, we were able to fix that, and we ended up clearly dominating.”
