The long time awaiting Arsenal winger Theo Walcott recently revealed to have fully recovered from his knee ligament injury hence can soon comeback in the first team. But his desires need some more time to fulfil as manager Arsene Wenger seems not to be in hurry to bring him in the team until he fully recovers from his injury that kept him out of the game since last January. Recently, some media reports claimed that English forward could find a place in Gunners last eleven for upcoming league clash with defender Manchester City, but after boss’ comment, Walcott needs to rest some more time to get fully charged for the current league season. Matching the lines of his boss, 25-year-old said via club website that “We’re not setting specific comeback matches, but I’m just pleased it’s hopefully now only a matter of weeks before I’ll be back playing.
“There may be one or two under-21s matches I’ll be involved in first. I’m just looking forward to getting out there and playing again. Life’s very good actually. I know it’s a bit different to say that, and of course injuries always get people down, but the way I look at it, is you can’t change the fact that you’re injured.”
This is actually nothing new for a player of his condition who missed the field for months, hence, obviously, first thing he would like after recovering is to get back in the team, but contemporary soccer is not an easy as one has assumed it to be. Now, there are two or three backups ready in every team to substitute any injured player which makes it even more difficult for such players to back in the side immediately after recovery. Walcott understands this hence he is also not making any foolish media statements at the moment and trying to be cool with manager’s decision. He added, “The time has seemed to fly by and there have been other things going on in my life, like a new baby boy, which makes time go quickly. It’s a cliché, but it’s true.
“I knew how long the rehab would be, it was always going to be around nine months, but I approached it that I had to enjoy it, and that’s what I have done. It’s given me the opportunity to work on my legs and build up the muscle strength. If anything, I hope to come back stronger and quicker.”
