Whenever a side, having a big name on its shoulders, fails to deliver in the domestic topflight, it puts itself into great trouble in the eye of every concern, may it be fans, owners, or sponsors and this is something that seems to be happening with English giant Manchester United who is struggling even to qualify for the Champions League and looking at their shoddy form in third consecutive domestic season, manager Van Gaal was put under fire by every fan and reportedly this Dutchman boss is going to be replaced soon. However, if we look at ManU’s FA Cup campaign, they still have a chance to win their first silverware of the season after reaching into the final defeating Everton in the semis. Captain Wayne Rooney, who has also been under tremendous pressure to prove he is still the right man to lead the side, has called their Wembley win as the best answer to critics who have long been lambasting whole team for losing on every front. Anthony Martial scored the winner for Red Devils and they will now face either Crystal Palace or Watford on May 21 and captain takes it as a big morale booster victory for their side after having a devastating English season.
Actually, this is not the first time 30-year-old Englishman is going to share the field in FA Cup final as he has been a part of the squad on two previous occasions but United failed to capitalize in both the finals and this year he could fulfill his dream of holding a FA Cup after facing severe criticisms from every corner, he said, “I’ve played in two FA Cup finals and both have ended up in defeat. It’s a cup I haven’t been lucky enough to win yet, so it’s a good chance for us. Whoever we play in the final, I’m sure it’ll be a tough game for us. I think the fans deserve it — they’ve got to come to Wembley for a cup final, and we have to give them a good performance.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for us. There are a lot of young and new players in the dressing room for us so it could be a big day for us in the final and the start of something special for us, I hope.”
“I think you’re obviously more involved in the game, you have a bigger influence from that position. I’ve tried to play what I’ve seen and I think it worked, with me and Michael having a bit more experience in there. We helped calm the game down when we needed to, especially after the equaliser, so I enjoyed it.”
