Manchester United has been missing two of their key players due to their injuries. Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young both are undergoing their treatments hence they are not likely to be available for Manchester United this weekend. However, by next week, Wayne Rooney is expected to be fit and fine as declared by MU boss Sir Alex Ferguson. He told in a press conference held at Carrington where he talked about his two main injured players and told about his team’s strategy for next matches. He also made it clear that all players, who played on Wednesday, are available for the next match against Liverpool on Sunday. He also ruled out any possibility of Rooney to return by this Sunday and hinted his sure recovery by next week. As Rooney is expected to return by next week, another injured player Ashley Young is yet to recover from his bruised cartilage for which he could take another two to three weeks. Till then, Manchester United will come on the field without Rooney and Ashley. Notably, their next clash with Liverpool is a much hyped match and without two of its key team members, it is going to be tougher for MU.
It was earlier stated that Rooney could be available either on Wednesday before MU’s clash with Galatasaray or by Sunday before the match against Liverpool. But for now, it is all certain that he will catch on the field by next week, probably before the match against Newcastle or Tottenham. In any case, his absence will not carry on for a long time. Both Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young are national players alongwith Manchester united, so their absence could cost MU some big matches this week. During their absence, Robin van Persie will lead the team.
Neither Sir Alex Ferguson is trying to have these players in the team until they are fully recovered from their injuries. He said in his statement, “We don’t want that – we want to give him a full recovery.” He also added for his expectations about Rooney’s next week’s availability, he said, “I know there were reports about Rooney being a possible, but that is not the case. He is not far away. He’s doing a lot of great training and has been working hard. It’s just a matter of getting him into the full football training side of things which he has done part of. I think he may be fine for next week.”
