Wenger accepts defeat to Liverpool, however, called it a bad day

February 10, 2014 by 888Scoreonline

English Premier League is getting even more exciting day by day, especially when two heavyweights are in front of each other. While Arsenal has been one of the strongest contenders for the title, Liverpool is another one who has impressed everyone this season. If we review the season so far, Liverpool started their campaign with a promising note and ruled the table for some time initially, but then they got a strong competition from teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal, and dropped to fourth place. Now, they seem to have polished their belt and ready to strike the field again; they proved it when they crushed Arsenal by 5-1 and earned important three points against the topper. Martin Skrtel and Raheem Sterling proved to be lethal for them and scored two goals each along with Daniel Sturridge who scored the last one. As far Arsenal is concerned, Mikel Arteta tried to offer some resistance in the second half but they were too far to shed off the lead. Unlike other managers, Arsene Wenger did not excuse his defeat to the referees; perhaps he accepted their bad show in an important game and thanked fans for continuous support throughout the ninety minutes.

He even said the battle of glory has now intensified coz every team is in full form to offer a tougher competition to others. He talked about the ‘bad day’ and said “It was a very poor day. We were poor defensively, offensively. Only our fans were good for 90 minutes. All the rest, we were poor. Liverpool played very well, so congratulations to them. But it was a poor performance on a day when we couldn’t afford it.

“Of course it raises some questions today because we were caught many times and were naive. Defensively we need to be more stable. Today we were too open. From the front to the back we were not at the level we are used to.”

Likewise, Liverpool manager hailed his team for showing their core strength to the world and called first twenty minutes as the game changer, he added, “It was an incredible performance. It’s not the first time we’ve been outstanding at home, but everything about us today was incredible. Everything was outstanding.

“We’ve been getting better and better. We’ve got a lot of young players, developing well. But for us it’s just about improving.”
