Criticisms some time play an important role in overall development of young players coz these unwanted things can make you strong enough to concentrate over your performance irrespective of what is being written about you in the media or what others are saying about you. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has been with the side right from his childhood days, is the person who is facing double attack these days from both outside and inside the field. While he is not able to do anything noticeable in the field, his critics are as well not sparing him to even demoralize further and two of these prominent names include Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher and ex-Manchester United star Paul Scholes who openly say that 22-year-old could find it difficult to play in Gunners first eleven this season. Like any good mentor, manager Arsene Wenger has advised him to ignore everything about him and just concentrate over his game; he is having a great career if he could learn how to shell off demining things out of you.
He gave him example of Wayne Rooney who has passed through similar phase in the early stage of his career and now he is world class player. What Frenchman said to Wilshere is, “I believe at the moment he should not respond to the criticism, just focus on his game. If Wilshere can maintain his fitness, then he will make a huge career. At the moment, I believe he should just focus on that — being fit, present and to improve physically. The rest will come along. I told him the target is for him to have the whole season being available to play. If he can maintain himself physically fit, then he will have a huge career.”
Blaming his slow progress to his injuries, 64-year-old pro added, “He is not as far as everyone expected him to be from when he was at 18, but that is because he was injured, not because he doesn’t train seriously. He is a guy who when he goes out there, he wants to play, he works hard but he was out for one and a half years.”
Obviously, this season would be the turning point for highly demoralized center back and if he could overcome these initial hurdles, he can surely present himself as the dangerous midfielder from Arsenal den. Though, manager also confirmed to continue hunt for a placement of former captain Thomas Vermaelen who has left to Barcelona.
