Generally, a soccer club starts ignoring its disputed player when it wants to get rid of him, reason could be anyone; may there be a salary dispute or a disciplinary action but ignorance is the best practice being followed by every contemporary club these days. This is exactly what happened to Dutch national team captain Wesley Sneijder, who was missing the field since last two months despite his fitness and form, the reason, there was a contract dispute. Apparently, his club Inter Milan asked the footballer to accept a salary cut if he wants to play for the club, something which can never be in favor of a prestigious player. Hence, Sneijder refused to do so and faced the penalty by not playing for the club since 25 September. Now, it is confirmed that he will move to Istanbul despite his long standing wish to play for an EPL team. Anyways, something is always better than nothing; hence he is taking this opportunity as a milestone for his remaining career.
Formality of his transfer will be completed as soon he passes the medical test which looks to be mare a formality now. Acknowledging his new club, Sneijder issued a statement via club website that reads as, “It will be amazing and the atmosphere will be nice, I can’t wait to go there and play my first game. I will make the Galatasaray fans very proud and very happy. I’m looking forward to meeting them and making a good life together.”
Actually, the backdrop of his transfer lies in one year ago when he was being linked to Manchester United but that deal could not be completed for unknown reasons; hence he had to continue paying for Milan until he could find a suitable new home. Performance wise, he has been an integral part of Milan A team ever since he moved to them from Real Madrid back in 2009. His significant achievements for the club include Serie A title, Champions League along with Italian Cup thrice in his first season with them. Club also issued a statement where they state to public the deal conditions once paperwork along with medical formalities complete. Statement reads as, “The transfer of Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan has been agreed. The conditions of the deal will be made public and the player will sign the contract after health checks.”
