While announcing the schedule, Steve Reed, the member of national organizing committee, said, “There’s a lot of factors that go into. The final match, certainly, we wanted to maximize the number of participants, the number of people that are in the seats. B.C. Place obviously has that capacity.” Notably, only the match dates have been finalized now, full draw of all the matches will only be made public in November 2014 when all qualifiers would have been completed.

FIFA also issued a media release on its website about this news that reads as, “The official match schedule for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ was provisionally approved today by the FIFA Executive Committee during a meeting held in Zurich.
“Fans can now mark their 2015 calendars with the world’s largest women’s football tournament, which will dominate the Canadian landscape from 6 June until 5 July 2015.
“The competition will kick off with the opening ceremony and opening matches in Edmonton. In total, 52 matches will be played over 30 days from coast to coast in six venues. The final match will be played in Vancouver.”
