Spanish side Real Madrid has seen lots of ups and downs this year and therefore could never be a threatening contender for La Liga title, in fact, right from the beginning they did not show any thirst to win the domestic title and for that reason bosses had to fire non performing manager. But newly appointed head coach Zinedine Zidane is still confident they can triumph the Spanish silverware despite not winning the Malaga game yesterday. The leaderboard is also not in there favor as they are trailing by a good nine points to the leader Barcelona with only thirteen games to play and it looks highly unlikely they can recoup this gap easily. This is noteworthy that Real is not having been able to show strength of their forward line these days, perhaps, Ronaldo is only one to score in almost every game while other players simply look struggling on the field. Even in the last game, Santiago Bernabéu side gained the early lead thanks to Ronaldo’s header but they could not carry their dominance in the second half and missed several opportunities. Malaga’s on loan Derby County centre-back Raul Albentosa equalized the score in no time and rest of the job was done by defensive lineup of the hosts who did not let visitors take another lead.
Talking about rest of the domestic season and where he finds Real on the table by the end, Zidane said, “You might think La Liga is over but I do not, and the players do not either. It will be more difficult, as today we have lost two points, but we will never drop our hands. There are lots of points still to play for, so we will keep going. It is more difficult, as we have dropped two points. Our last game in Champions was away from home, a difficult game, and we won it. Today we had a similar game, a difficult game.
“We had chances to kill the game. We had chances to kill the game, we made lots of chances. But we could also have lost. You could think though at least we picked up one point today.”
Accepting the earlier debacles in the away games, 43-year-old Frenchman added, “There are different moments in the season, and there is a long way to go in La Liga. Other teams can also drop points. But I do not think about other teams. I think that we must keep going, whatever happens. We have prepared well this week, but I have to do my analysis of both my players and my own work.”
